NICOTAWINES and the Canadian Embassy Partner with NEHBS Association to Promote Wines of Canada in Nigeria

A landmark collaboration took shape as NICOTAWINES partnered with the NEHBS Association and the Canadian Embassy in Nigeria to foster a deeper and more meaningful understanding of the Wines of Canada within the Nigerian market.

The event brought together industry professionals, trade officials, and wine enthusiasts in a setting that was equal parts educational and celebratory -- a reflection of what happens when institutions, businesses, and a shared passion for quality align around a common purpose.

A Message from the Canadian Embassy

The Deputy High Commissioner, Carlos Rojas-Arbulu, and the Trade Commissioner were both present at the event, lending the occasion a weight and significance that went beyond a typical tasting. Their addresses highlighted the importance of this collaboration and encouraged professionals across Nigeria's wine and hospitality industry to embrace the Wines of Canada -- not merely as a commercial opportunity, but as a new expression of friendship between two nations with a great deal to offer each other.

The message was clear: Canada's wine industry is world-class, its producers are eager to engage with the Nigerian market, and the embassy stands firmly behind efforts to make that connection real, sustainable, and mutually beneficial.

Icewine and Canadian Whisky: The Stars of the Evening

If the speeches provided the context, the wines provided the proof. Canadian Icewine and whisky took centre stage during the tasting portion of the event -- and they did not disappoint. Guests who encountered Icewine for the first time were visibly moved by its intensity: that extraordinary concentration of flavour that only the Canadian winter can produce, where grapes freeze naturally on the vine and yield a liquid of remarkable sweetness, depth, and complexity.

The Canadian whisky, smooth and approachable with its own distinctive character, drew equally enthusiastic responses. By the end of the evening, smiles were the only review that mattered.

Building the Foundation for Long-Term Growth

Events like this are the building blocks of a market. They shift perception, build confidence, and create the kind of firsthand experience that no marketing campaign can replicate. For Nigerian wine professionals who attended, the evening offered a genuine encounter with Canadian quality -- and the industry relationships to pursue it further.

NICOTAWINES is proud to have played a central role in making this event possible, and deeply grateful to the management of the NEHBS Association for their partnership and belief in the vision. Together with the Canadian Embassy in Nigeria, we are laying the groundwork for a wine relationship between Canada and Nigeria that will only deepen with time.

Our thanks also go to the entire NICOTAWINES team whose dedication and hard work made the evening the success it was.

The Wines of Canada have found a home in Nigeria. And this is only the beginning.
