Port Harcourt Toasts the Wines of Canada

Port Harcourt truly showed up and showed out.

Last week, NICOTAWINES brought the Wines of Canada tasting to the city for the first time, and the response left no doubt: Port Harcourt has a discerning, curious wine audience ready to meet world-class Canadian craft on its own terms.

The lineup told its own story. Guests moved from crisp whites and elegant sparkling wines from Tawse, through bold reds and distinctive whiskies, to the evening's standout Canada's exceptional Icewine, poured from Macaloney's Island Distillery's award-winning Kildara. Lakeview's Cabernet Franc sat alongside its own Vidal Icewine, giving the room a rare side-by-side of what Ontario's wine country does best: range, without compromise

A Journey Through Canadian Wine Country

From crisp whites and elegant sparkling wines to bold reds, distinctive whiskies, and the exceptional Canadian Icewine, the lineup captured the full craftsmanship, diversity, and passion behind Canada's wine country.

CEO Ehichioya Nicholas Isesele introduced the Icewine himself, walking guests through what makes it one of Canada's most distinctive exports - a wine born from grapes harvested frozen, concentrated and intense in a way few in the room had tasted before. For many, it was a genuine revelation: proof of just how far Canadian viticulture has come, and how little of that story has reached Nigeria until now.

But the wine was really just the reason everyone was in the room. The conversations that flowed as freely as the pours were the real point - producers meeting consumers, strangers leaving as friends. That's the bridge NICOTAWINES set out to build, and Port Harcourt crossed it fully.
