NICOTAWINES® successfully led a business delegation on the second trade mission to Canada, supported by the Deputy High Commissioner and Trade Commissioner of Canada in Nigeria, to attend the NIAGARA GRAPE & WINE FESTIVAL DISCOVERY PASS 2025.

A High-Level Delegation

The Deputy High Commissioner of Canada in Nigeria, Carlos Rojas-Arbulú. together with his team from Global Affairs Canada and a select group of business entrepreneurs, joined the NICOTAWINES delegation for an immersive series of winery visits across Ontario. The mission brought together diplomats, trade officials, and industry leaders in a shared pursuit of deepening the commercial and cultural ties between Canada and Nigeria through wine.

Winery Visits Across Ontario

The delegation visited some of Ontario's most prestigious estates, including Lakeview Wine Co., 180 Estate Winery, and Konzelmann Estate Winery. At each destination, the group gained firsthand insight into the winemaking process, toured production facilities, and conducted structured tastings to identify the finest selections suited to the Nigerian palate and market.

These encounters went far beyond a tasting experience. They were conversations between producers and a market that is ready conversations about craft, provenance, and the long-term relationship that serious wine trade demands.

A Foundation for Long-Term Partnership

These interactions have significantly enhanced investor confidence in pursuing long-term business opportunities between Canada and Nigeria. The mission has laid a strong foundation for further initiatives, including formal distribution agreements, co-branding and marketing programmes, knowledge-sharing efforts, and a series of wine tasting events across Nigeria's major cities to showcase the Wines of Canada.

These activities are expected to expand market reach, foster sustainable collaboration, and deepen the economic ties between both nations with wine as the thread that connects them.
